The Air of Change

What if, instead of fearing and resisting change, you invite it in, befriend it, and embrace it?

There is so much to be said about change.  I have been communicating with the energy of change for some time now, knowing that I wanted to sit inside my sacred, creative space and craft an article about change as a constant.  I have written several beginning drafts, all of them with good ideas fleshed out and bulleted with points to touch on.  Yet, something was missing and I couldn’t bring myself to publish or finish any of them.

Everything I do begins with an intention; a super-duper, crystal-clear, powerful intention.  This includes my writing, each and every piece of writing I release into the world has an individual intention of its own.  What was keeping me from being satisfied and complete with those other drafts was this: my intention needed to be clarified and more focused because there was a different perspective for me to personally hone in on.

One morning, as I was reading my musings about change, I was doing what I had done already.  However, this time; it was different.  Despite how fuzzy my head was from an annoying cold, I was instantly transported to a mountaintop with an enchanting tea service set up and ready for change to join me.

Only, change was already there, speaking to me through the wind.

And just like that, everything clicked into place and was energetically aligned.  I had my clarity: change is always there.  It is constantly surrounding us like the wind and the air we breathe.

We have to breathe to maintain our life in these bodies just as we need to embrace change in order to progress on our journey in this lifetime rather than merely survive it.  Change, like air, also works with the other elements.  However, AIR is the main event today.

The element of air is aligned with our mental realm, our thoughts both conscious and unconscious.

If you are paying attention, you will notice change is all around you.  There is an endless possibility of change at your fingertips at any given moment.  For some, change itself is a scary unknown that is to be avoided at all costs.

What ends up costing those who avoid change at all costs, are things and relationships that oftentimes devastates and debilitates them to the point of emptiness and keeps them from progressing on their path of ascension and their life’s purpose.

The Air of ChangeWhat if, instead of fearing and resisting change, you invite it in, befriend it, and embrace it?

I am going to let you in on a secret: if you do invite change in and you tune-in and listen as if you are meeting a friend for tea or coffee, there is so much you can discover and learn about yourself!  [Yes, this is what I read and did that led me to a crystal-clear perspective.]

Now, doesn’t that sound exciting?  Dare I say a bit exhilarating?

Change occurs and incites chaos which then gives you the opportunity to either embrace and transform, or resist, stay in fear and wait for the next opportunity.  The choice is yours.

So where does the element of air come into play with change (other than the fact that air itself represents our thoughts)?

Think of the wind as always there, always changing in speed.  Sometimes it’s refreshing.  Sometimes you want to seek shelter from it.  Sometimes it’s destructive.

Now when you think about resisting or embracing change from the perspective of air, think of it like this:

  • A refreshing breeze is akin to setting an intention and going through the transformational process in order for that intention to manifest.  Yes, there will be moments of a stronger, clearing breeze, yet it is welcomed and refreshing.  This type of rise helps the trees shake loose the already broken branches.
  • To seek shelter is to refuse changes’ invitation to step into the next evolution of yourself.  In other words, to resist change allows whatever patterns and limiting, self-defeating, conditioned beliefs to build-up and block your energy flow thereby, closing you off from your own spiritual growth and personal development.  I like to think of seeking shelter as wind advisory, maybe even severe storm days.  Seeking shelter is like a last chance to choose change.  You cannot deny its presence and some things are going to change.  Keep ignoring it, it will domino- affecting practically everything it possibly can, including what you cannot foresee.
  • The destructive nature of air is what I would compare to natural disasters that vary in strength and size like tornados and hurricanes.  This is what happens when we continue to ignore those nudges from spirit.  [I refer to the above paragraph.] Each time we ignore a call, or hear it and ignore it anyway, those nudges have a way of becoming so vociferous that there is no other way to embrace change, for change grabs hold and happens no matter what.

Whether it is new year, new moon, calling in a new beginning or any other type of manifesting, you will be dancing with the energies of intention, change, and transformation.  So, in order for those intentions to manifest, you must first embrace change.

The Air of ChangeLet’s continue with this lens of air.  If you were a bird, you’d have wings to control the direction you wish to go.  Think of this direction as your intention.  You see it is much easier to embrace and befriend change when you set an intention for yourself as it gives you a direction in which to go.

Yes, I know birds can be blown off course if the wind is too strong-if they are fighting too hard or aren’t strong enough to maneuver.  Though it may seem that change or your intention (or both) have taken you off course, trust in the process of transformation because while it may feel (or seem as if you are) off course.  You could very well be on the most direct path for your intention to manifest.

Once you have your intention and consciously act in co-creation with the air of change, then you are more in charge of whether or not you need to shelter from the wind because YOU are clearing what no longer serves you, YOU are pruning your tree of life so it has a healthy, happy life.  YOU are planting seeds of intention; a.k.a. Change, to support and nurture your transformational process.

To invite change in is akin to adding its wisdom to your round table of spiritual allies vs. attaching to fear to this otherwise neutral, necessary and natural evolution in the cycles of life in these human bodies.

There’s a reason, the phrases; winds of change, and change is in the air, exists.  One being that when you develop a strong daily practice, strengthen your intuitive senses, become fluent in your Spirit Speak and learn to tune-in to the elements, your communication in all forms and all ways becomes clearer.  As a result you become wiser and more confident in your ability to dance with the energy of change and use it as an ally in your spiritual development for it will propel you forward on your journey.

Here comes the fun part.  Are you ready to invite change in?

Have you and your spirit been restless recently?  Something, perhaps you cannot quite put your finger on?  Every living being experiences a restlessness right before change takes place.  Call it a warning, a sign, or a simple knowing-it’s how your spirit makes sure you know to get ready just like a change in the seasons.

Patterns, habits & common go-to’s are default settings that require us to consciously override and rewrite as part of our working alchemy of transformation.

We are accustomed to looking at and rewiring negative self-talk of our conditioned-self; shifting our mindset with affirmations and mantras, cleaning up our diet and exercise routine, etc.

As we move through the transformation-integration-embodiment-ascension process, we also need to be open to what our positive defaults look like. After all, sometimes the good habits, patterns and go-to’s need an upgrade too!

What do I mean?  When you are feeling restless and normally take a nice walk to clear your head, you may want to change it up with something that is also positive and replenishing.  Perhaps a long midday tub soak, a massage-or a longer meditation.  Other nudges also include, (yet often overlooked) are those urges to clear clutter, craft, color or other creative means.

Simply, there are occasions when we need to consciously change something in order to pay attention to what is being called forward.  It is easy to fill ourselves up the same way with the same goodness, but there are times when even that needs to be different in order to grow past and move through restlessness, funk, stuckness, stickiness, mundane and comfortable and into the unknown- growth, and expansion, (a.k.a. the new magic zone)!

Once you know and set your super-duper, crystal-clear, powerful intention, the next change you can incite is doing as many things differently in your day as possible.

  • If normally you wake up and hop right in the shower, then grab your coffee, prepare your lunch and any other miscellaneous tasks that are part of your morning routine prior to taking a shower.
  • Drive a different way to work.
  • Build 5-10 minutes into your lunch hour where you walk away from everything including your cell phone.  If it isn’t possible to go outside, find a window and watch the clouds or the trees move in the breeze.  Connect with nature in some way.
  • Before driving home, give yourself a few moments of silence once you reach your car.

Get the idea?  Change as many things about your day as possible!  By removing yourself from the autopilot of your habits, you heighten your awareness so you can see/feel/realize what your next step in the dance with change is.

Lastly, if you were to sit at your desk and there were to be a stack of fancy, or not so fancy, blank invitations for you to fill out, what would your invitation to change look like?  What would it say?
